Professional golfers recognise the Pilates technique as a method to stay physically fit for their game. Tiger Woods, David Duval and Annika Sorenstam all incorporate Pilates into their fitness regime. It is accepted that unless the body is conditioned for flexibility, strength, stability and coordination, then no amount of golf coaching will be completely effective.

For the golfer, Pilates will focus on flexibility especially in the hip and shoulder joints, core strength and coordination, all factors that are essential for a natural and effective golf swing.

For both the professional and amateur golfer, injuries are common. The most likely are lower back injuries. Pilates will correct your posture and stabilise the lower back, which not only improves your swing but also eases the strain on your back reducing the likelihood of injury.
